By Rail: The Jammu Railway Station is is the nearest to Kashmir and is at a distance of 290 km.
By Road: Deluxe Buses are often arranged by tour service providers to Kashmir from the neighboring cities like Chandigarh(630km), Delhi(876km) and Leh(434km).
Local Transportation in Srinagar
By Boat: Shikaras are a convenient mode of transport as they have access to most of the important places in Srinagar through the interconnectes waterbodies.
By Taxi: Taxi plies quite frequently from Srinagar Railway Station and Srinagar Airport (i.e. around 15kms from the city). The Taxi fares are about Rs.400 from the Airport.
By Autorickshaw / Bus: Buses are mush cheaper and frequent as well. Autorickshaws ply from the Railway Station. But usually they run on meters. It is better to negotiate the fare beforehand.
